Weekend Fun!

Hubby and I had a great weekend this past weekend! It wasn't too wild or crazy but we still had fun and got a lot done!

Saturday was nice because Hubby did not have to get up early and work like he usually does. I would love to say we slept in but 6:30 seems to be our new wake up time...not sure what to deal is?! Maybe our babies are getting ready for "the wee one"?!

I started laundry (since per Hubby's request, I only do it in the morning and evenings to try and keep the house cool) and made breakfast and I thought we were having some people over so I quickly cleaned up and vaccumed and straightened things up. They ended up not showing BUT it worked out that the house was cleaned up so I was done with that for the weekend! Score!

After a quick drop off of chemically stuff to the "Hazardous Waste Drop Off Day", we headed to Babies R Us to get my parents a Pack N Play for the kiddo. Mom is going to help us out with childcare for a bit so...he needed a place to sleep. Hubby and I then ran a few more errands, including grocery shopping (I love when I can sucker him in to going with me) and then we headed over to my parent's house (with the pups of course) for a fun afternoon of swimming! I totally rocked out a bikini (wearing shorts of course) with this huge 39 week pregnant belly. I wouldnt do it in front of anyone other than my husband and family of course but it was amusing regardless. Oddly enough I think I was more comfortable in a 2-piece pregnant than I am normally...my stomach has always been an issue...so that was pretty strange.

After a fun few hours of swimming, we headed home and cooked dinner. Shawn saw this yummy recipe for Moroccan Spiced Chickpea Soup on The Cooking Channel which is a new network with a lot of old shows from The Food Network that I L-O-V-E. Anyways...he wanted to give it a whirl so we did! It was different, yummy, but different. We added chicken too for extra protein.

After that I convinced him to go for Sno Cones and then it was off to slumbertown.

Tune in tomorrow for a Father's Day recap!

Happy Tuesday!

My legs finally work again!

So after watching The Biggest Loser a few seasons ago, I got inspired to start walking. I started walking after dinner and on the weekends and started going pretty far distances. This lead me to the idea of walking a half marathon (13.1 miles). I asked around and found a few friends who said they were willing but I wasn't sure if they would really do it. Life can get in the way, I understand that, but I wanted to train and do it with someone who was just as serious as I was. Well the White Rock Marathon came and went, but the idea never left. Well around summer time of this year, I decided that I was going to do it. I asked Hubby if he would be willing to participate with me, and probably thinking that I would change my mind by then, he said yes. So I signed us up, paid our fees, and printed off our training schedule that we would start 14 weeks before the race.

We started training and of course, just like everyone else, life started to get in the way. We found out we were having a "punkin", the holidays rolled around and we were out of town every weekend for three weeks and before we knew it, December 13th was knocking on our door. The longest we had walked prior to last Sunday was 6 miles. It is exactly 3 miles to my parents, so we had walked there and back but since we didnt die, we figured we could push and surely do another 7.1....

We arrived at American Airlines Center at around 7:30 after parking across the street. I was cold and terrified as you can tell by my face.

But we had our numbers and we were committed.

There were 20,000 people....let me say that again TWENTY THOUSAND PEOPLE participating in the 5-person relay, the full marathon, and the half marathon.

It was INSANE. Hubby and I were at the very back of the pack (you have to enter your time when you sign up and they section you off accordingly) and in this picture, you cant even see the start line, it is actually around the corner.

The race started at 8:00AM and at about 8:15-8:20 we crossed the start line (under the balloons).

Once we hit that start line, we started walking...

and we walked....

and we walked some more...

through neighborhoods were people were cheering us on and bands were playing...

and over major freeways...where bands were playing.

It was tough. I would be lying if I said it wasn't. By the end my hips were hurting, my feet were hurting, and although I wasn't tired cardiovascularly, my body was beat. But soon we were at mile 8...

and then mile 10...

and before we knew it...12...

and then...together...we ran over the finish line.

It was an AMAZING experience and I can't imagine doing it with anyone else, "punkin" included!

So far, So good!

Well, this weekend has started off pretty stinkin' good! Woke up WAY too early and went out a bike ride...WHAT?! I know...don't be jealous! Well...I haven't been in awhile so...I lasted for about 20 minutes. Oh well, try again tomorrow!

Then I baked my final "creation" in my oven. It was my mom's birthday cake...awww...carrot cake...YUM! More about that and MY NEW OVEN later!

Shawn called to tell me a package had arrived for me and he had forgotten to tell me about it. Awww...is he surprising me?! Did he buy me something sweet?! Oh...no he didn't...BUT I did receive my replacement nail polish for OPI....I'm good with that!

So I finally splurged and bought a bottle of OPI nail polish...$8.00...geesh. BUT it was gorgeous and I couldn't resist. Got it home...put it on my toes...and stuck it in the cabinet. Roughly 2 or 3 weeks later, got in said bottom bathroom cabinet and it fell out...AND BROKE...and spilled RED, sparkly nail polish all over our tile floor. SON OF A.....
I was pissed...I wrote an email...stating that I was shocked that it fell at such a short height and broke. Never heard back....
UNTIL last week when I received an email with their apologies and their assurance that they would send another bottle! HIP HIP HOORAY!
(It arrived yesterday!!) YAY OPI! http://www.opi.com/

So then...I went to get my eyebrows waxed. My girl left...she moved to Hawaii (just up and moved to do something different...bitch!)...but I knew this, so I was nervous that I was meeting with someone new. Would she understand that I just needed a clean up? That I want a NATURE shape. Would she laugh at my out of control, 2 months since my last wax, grandpa eyebrows?! She was young...REALLY young...but adorable. It was an awkward meeting...I didn't know her name, she didn't know mine...I just followed her to the lavender scented room with the amazingly comfortable bed/table thing and prayed.

As I laid my head back...she asked if I had ever had my eyebrows threaded. I said no, but have always been interested BUT I am not about to try it out in the middle of Grapevine Mills Mall. (Might as well have my teeth whitened while I'm at it. NO THANK YOU!) She said it was the same price, hurt a tiny bit more, but wouldn't remove the top layer of skin like waxing and sometimes lasts longer than waxing. I said...sign me up. WOW! I am officially a fan of threading! (and no, she did not have one of the strings in her mouth...that I could see...)

It felt like plucking, didn't sting like waxing afterwards, and I saw a few of the eyebrows floating around afterwards and WOW it took the whole dang thing out!

Try it out ladies...or gentleman...you'll love it! (just not in Grapevine Mills Mall or I will be forced to laugh at you...on the inside)

Happy Saturday Kids! Make it a good one!
